upon reading Hosea early one morning

God is not overly concerned with comfort.

"Go and love your adulterous woman,"

is what He has to say,

and you can almost hear the unspoken:

"Deal with it."

The preacher tells me

this is a message for all of us,

to know we are never abandoned,

that forgiveness is always stretching out.

(Hallelujah think about it for awhile)

But my faithless mind keeps thinking of that husband.

I am always thinking of that man:

His blessed hand just reaching,

His cheated lips unkissed.
